Maryland and 5 other states Illinois, Indiana, Mississippi, Hawaii, Tennessee all have bills pending that would require ammo to be encoded and resigtered with the state.

Most of the bills have the same main features.

If the ammunition bill becomes effective in Maryland, you can pretty much guarantee that shooting, of all kinds, will stop in the state.

The bill would outlaw reloading of all ammo.Reloading will not be allowed since the case and ball will not have matching serial numbers on it.

Unused ammo would have to be turned over to the state by 1/09.

There will be a 5 cent tax on each round; including .22's and you would be required to use ammo that has not been developed yet. If you sell your ammo, it must be reported and serial numbers are required on the report.

Also rounds with stamped encoding will not preform - accuracy will go out the window.

Time to rally up boys and beat this back

Whoa, that's nuts!!!!! My question...........Why have matching serial #'s on casings and bullets? The bullet is demolishedafter firing so how would one even come close to reading the serial # on it?

My thought...........5 cent tax. Government will be making money on all of it. Seems that money is always the only motivation when it comes to stuff like this.

On a side note, I just moved to SC from MD about 2 years ago and boy am I glad I did. That state was so crazy and stupid about guns it was pitiful. I remember Kathleen K. Townsend and all her BS about guns and so forth. I love the state, but hate to live there and glad I don't anymore. Here in SC they are A LOT less strict on fire arms.

all I know is that I have a lot of unused ammo around here and it's going to STAY here, I am not giving the ammo I PAID FOR to the state, or anyone else for that matter

Heck...we'll just ban those things. All people use them for is killing poor little birds and what not. Next we need to get those dang long range sniper rifles that everyone uses to kill Bambi's mother!

what really make's this kind of law stupid is that a crimanal that breaks into your home and steals your ammo then uses it to commit a murder, you are automaticly guilty!!! because it was registerd to you so you had to be the one that commited the crime.
come on, get this thru your head polititions, if you try to microstamp ammo you are going to be prosecuting INNOCENT people for crimes they DID NOT commit

I think it is a bunch of [ censored] they make our ammo hard to get the cost and all.they make the people that load them selves a thing of the past.take or make ammo hard to get then they can't use those guns.I got 2 words for them [censored, censored].I hope by some chance it fails but I believe it will pass.

How will a bullet with a serial # solve anything ?Yeah, they may catch the guy doing the shooting, but but what about the poor soul that caught the bullet ?
Just another way for the government to make money off of us.

Like willy said earlier I am not giving up any ammo that i have right now. If this passes and it is made illegal to have unmarked rounds and/or load your own rounds then there will be allot of new criminals out there starting with me.

Don't worry boys...the sky is not falling. Anyone can suggest a bill and get a vote on it...not sure if it is even true but if it is I can easily handicap its chance of passing here in IL....0%.

As for Ammo prices going up in Alabama. Pinetree...have you bought grain lately? Copper wire? Gas? All comodity prices are sky high. My father in law just contracted his wheat at all time highs. Guess what...next time you buy a Dominoes pizza that wheat price is going to be passed on to you via higher pizza prices.
