Taking Heroes Hunting

2014 BADF Heart of Texas Chapter Hunts

It was an awesome weekend for our chapter to share hunting camp with three Purple Heart Heroes from Texas and a special young boy, Noel Accves, whose father lost his life in the Gulf War.

Retired Army Sergeant Justin Pullin, who was injured in an IUD attack on his convoy, served with Noel's father and brought the boy to be with us on the hunt.

Noel had never shot a rifle before, and it was a very emotional hunt for us all when he harvested his first buck.

Army Staff Sergeant Sean McEndree and Army Sergeant Taylor McMillan were our other two heroes in camp.

The weekend of Dec. 5 thru 7 was tough hunting due to a full moon and lots of acorns still on the ground, but all our hunters were able to take a buck.

BADFNoel came to us through Gold Star Kids, and we will be doing more hunts through this program for children whose fathers did not return home from war. These men truly made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.

We would like to thank Ryan Construction and the Cutbirth Cattle Company. These fine businesses have sponsored our hunts for the past four years.
