Arkansas changes feral hog harvest rule for WMAs

Hunters can now harvest feral hogs during firearms deer, bear or elk seasons on AGFC-managed wildlife management areas.

The elk, harvested in southwestern Searcy County on private land, was a 2.5-year old bull taken during the elk management assistance program quota hunt.

Mandatory CWD testing of harvested deer in 2 counties

To prevent the spread of Chronic Wasting Disease, hunters must take all deer harvested on Nov. 21 and 22, 2016 in Hampshire and Hardy counties to a sampling station for testing.

Youth hunters take nearly 9,500 deer

Cooler temperatures were welcome during first youth hunt of the 2016-17 deer season when young hunters harvested 9,429 deer during the two-day season.
The harvest is lower than last year’s 12,000-deer youth hunt, but similar to the 2014 season when youth hunters took just over 9,700 deer, according to Cory Gray, deer program coordinator.

96,000 deer taken during Missouri firearms season opener

Preliminary data shows deer hunters in Missouri harvested 96,131 deer Nov. 12 and 13 during opening weekend of the November portion of Missouri’s fall firearms deer season.
