Poor Man’s Arrow Finder?

Poor Man’s Arrow Finder?

By Tony Keiffer

This tip seems so obvious I can’t believe I haven’t thought of it before. I wish someone would have told me about it years ago.

Most arrows now have fluorescent nocks and fletching. A simple black light flashlight illuminates these parts of the arrow, even if only a small amount is exposed in the leaves, grass or dirt.

Of course, it has to be dark outside for black light to make the nocks and fletching appear to glow in the dark, so wait until after sundown to search.

The first time I tested this, I returned to fields where I knew I’d lost arrows a long time ago and found them.

Call it a poor man’s arrow finder. I would have replaced arrows I’ve since recovered this way, a far more expensive investment than the $20 spent on my black light.

I hope my tip helps my fellow bowhunting buddies out there.
