199,000 pounds of venison donated to Share the Harvest

Moose population study shows it’s unchanged

Minnesota’s moose population shows signs of stability when comparing this year’s population estimate of 3,710 northeastern Minnesota moose with estimates since 2012.

State-wide elk season sees record harvest numbers

Hunters harvested a record 55 elk during the 2016-17 hunting season, according to Wes Wright, Arkansas elk program coordinator.
The record tally represented a 15 percent increase in harvest from the 2015 season and was the result of the statewide elk season established in 2016 to prevent further expansion of the herd.

Remaining spring turkey permits available March 20

85,193 deer harvest up for 2016-17 season

Hunters harvested 85,193 deer during the combined archery, muzzleloader and firearm seasons Sept. 9, 2016 through Jan. 31, 2017. The harvest exceeded the 2015-2016 total by more than 1,000 deer.

New coyote challenge for hunters, trappers begins in March
