Firearm deer season Nov. 13-21 offers range of opportunities

By Nebraska Game and Parks Department

Nebraska's nine-day firearm deer season runs Nov. 13 to 21, and hunters will find deer in every county, over-the-counter permits and easy access to public land. Permits are still available in a number of firearms units and can be purchased online.

Take advantage of antlerless hunting opportunities, include young hunters as well—youth permits are just $8. Youth ages 10 to 15 (including non-residents) are eligible.

Also, those who apply online have the chance to give to a great cause while completing the purchase. Hunters Helping the Hungry has provided more than 700,000 meals of venison to Nebraskans in need. Learn more here.

For hunters who want to extend their deer hunt, season choice permits include a late season firearm opportunity in January 2022. It is possible to extend your deer season by trying several methods of take.

Landowners who qualify are offered special hunting permit options.

For different challenge, archery deer permits are still available, and muzzleloader season begins Dec 1.

Hunters who end up with more meat than they can use, can sign up for the Deer Exchange program and share the extra harvest.
