Sept. 15 deadline to apply for gun deer draw hunts

Sept. 15 is the next deadline for 12 different Drawn Hunt categories, including popular deer categories.

For Whitetail Deer, Tuesday, Sept. 15 is the deadline for these hunt categories: E-Postcard Quail, E-Postcard Youth Archery Deer, E-Postcard Youth Deer, Gun Deer - Antlerless/Spike, Gun Deer - Either Sex, Gun Deer - Management, National Refuge General Deer, USFS Antlerless Deer Permit - Adult, USFS Antlerless Deer Permit - Youth, Youth Only Gun Deer - Antlerless / Spike, Youth Only Gun Deer - Management, and Youth Only - Javelina.

Hunters must purchase an Annual Public Hunting Permit for the 2020-2021 season before applying for E-Postcard hunts and USFS Antlerless Deer permits.

The next application deadlines will be Oct. 1 and Oct. 15. Drawings are usually held the next business day after the deadline.

This is how it works: You can browse hunts by category or location.

Use your Customer ID as your identifier. The application fee is $0, $3 or $10, depending on the hunt. After you apply, you can check your drawing status at any time.

If you are drawn for a hunt, an $80 or $130 permit fee is required for most hunts. Some hunts have no permit fees.
