Archery and crossbow season remain open

Wisconsin hunters continue to enjoy late season archery and crossbow hunting which remain open statewide through Jan. 8 in Deer Management Units. Archery and crossbow hunting in metro sub-units is open through Jan. 31.

Hunters are required to register harvested deer before 5 p.m. the day after harvest. Any hunter who fails to follow mandatory registration rules should do so now, despite having missed the deadline.

The first 5-year review of the Chronic Wasting Disease response plan is currently underway. Department of Natural Resources staff thanks hunters for submitting sample for CWD testing.  So far, over 5,300 deer have been sampled for CWD in Wisconsin.
