Explore Bowhunting program in Louisiana

Explore Bowhunting program in Louisiana

By Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries

Agriculture teachers in Louisiana can now provide the platform to teach Explore Bowhunting in Louisiana schools, following instructor training sessions for 18 teachers in late July at Cypress Bend Park near Many, La.

Most agriculture teachers are outdoor enthusiasts and already certified to teach hunter education.

Developed by the Archery Trade Association, Explore Bowhunting is an educational program designed to help instructors, program leaders and educators teach students ages 11 to 17 the basic skills of bowhunting.

The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries officially launched the Explore Bowhunting Program following instructor training held in conjunction with the Agriculture Teachers Association Convention.

The Archery Trade Association created the program to spark an interest and passion for bowhunting in today’s youth. Through hands-on experiences students gain confidence interacting with the natural environment and strengthen their appreciation for wildlife and the woods.
