WV limited resident antlerless deer season apps available

From the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources

-- Applications for the 2010 antlerless deer season are now available at all West Virginia Division of Natural Resources district offices, Elkins Operations Center and South Charleston Headquarters.  Applications also may be downloaded from the DNR website at

These limited permit areas provide antlerless deer hunting opportunities in counties or areas of the state where biologists have determined antlerless deer permits are necessary to meet management objectives.

Applications must be received by the close of business Aug. 20.  The limited resident antlerless season will provide an opportunity for 1,100 residents to participate on the four WMAs. An additional 1,850 residents will be selected to hunt antlerless deer in the seven counties or portions of the counties that are restricted to resident hunters.

Seven counties or parts of counties including Clay (private land only-north of Elk River), Lincoln, Mercer (east of I-77), Pocahontas (private land only), Randolph (private land only), Summers and Tucker and four wildlife management areas will have a limited number of Class N licenses for resident antlerless deer hunting from Nov. 22 and 23 (private land only), Nov. 24 through Dec. 11 and Dec. 29 to 31 on public and private land.

For complete information on antlerless deer season dates and bag limits, consult the 2010-2011 Hunting and Trapping Regulations Summary, which is available online at  The Regulations Summary will be available at West Virginia hunting and fishing license agents and DNR offices in late July.
