Utah antlerless hunting info now only online

From the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources

-- Hunters looking to hunt cow elk, doe deer or doe pronghorn this fall who have been trying to find a copy of the 2011 Antlerless Guidebook-can stop looking.

Starting May 24. all of the information you'll need to apply for a cow elk hunting permit should be available at the DWR's website. A printed copy of the guidebook won't be available this year. Hunters can find everything needed to apply at one place online: http://wildlife.utah.gov/dwr/.

"Once you get used to it," says Staci Coons, "we think you'll like the change." Coons leads the Division of Wildlife Resources team that puts Utah's hunting, fishing and trapping guidebooks together.

"Starting this year," she said, "everything you need to apply-including detailed topographical maps, hunt tables, boundary descriptions and the application itself-will be available in one spot."

Coons says information for this fall's antlerless big game hunts will be available starting May 24. The 2011 antlerless big game application period opens June 1.

For more information, call the nearest Division of Wildlife Resources office or the DWR Salt Lake City office at (801) 538-4700.
