From the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency
-- The first hunt of the 2009-10 season will begin in less than a month when squirrel season opens. With that in mind, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and numerous certified volunteers are holding hunter education courses across Middle Tennessee.
Anyone born on or after Jan. 1, 1969, must pass a course in order to hunt in Tennessee. The TWRA is responsible for handing this mandatory course and certifying instructors.
The majority of courses are held in classroom settings, but the agency also offers the course online and/or CD. Students who take the course digitally must attend a field day to complete their training.
More information about classroom courses, online and CD courses and field days is available at TWRA’s website, www.tnwildlife.org
Course dates are listed by TWRA region, with Middle Tennessee being listed under TWRA’s Region II. The course is free to everyone.
