And then there were eight.
Action was intense Saturday in the Buckmasters Top Bow Indoor World Championships.
Winners were crowned for the A and B pools, and the world champion field of 24 was whittled down to the final eight.
Keith Brown from Greensboro, N.C., and Joseph Goza from Bryant, Ala., jumped ahead of previous leader Colin Boothe, Harrisonburg, La., in the quest for the world champion title, which will be decided later today.
With only eight shooters remaining, the cumulative scores no longer matter, and shooting moves to a head-to-head format.
Brown will go up against eighth-place finisher Darren Collins (Galena, Kan.), while Goza will face Luke Hitt (Rogers, Ark.). Boothe will take on Chris Berry (Sarcoxie, Mo.), and Jamie Patterson (Tallassee, Ala.) will face Skipper Booth (Northport, Ala.).
Also yesterday, winners were crowned in the two separate shooter pools. Keith Brown won a Yamaha Grizzly ATV by outscoring Randy Barley (Brown Summitt, N.C.), and Boothe won the other Yamaha Grizzly by inching past Berry. Barley and Berry both take home checks for $1,000 for finishing second in their respective pools.
The quarterfinals for the Top Bow Championship begin today at noon. Semi-finals are expected to get under way at 2 p.m., with the finals beginning at about 2:45.
This is the final day of the 18th Buckmasters Expo, and doors will remain open until 5 p.m.
