Joseph Borges is 4 years old, and is shown here with his 2.82 pound Sacramento perch which he reeled in by himself May 24. Joseph and his dad were in a canoe on the Bridgeport Reservoir in northern Mono County, California when he caught his fish.
At first his dad didn't believe him when he told him he had caught a fish, but after the tenth time, his dad looked at his pole and realized he had caught something. He asked his dad to grab the net so he could reel in the fish. Joseph was very excited because the fish was so heavy and kept moving the canoe around.
At one point, Joseph's dad thought he would fall in, but he didn't. He also managed to bring in the only fish their group caught during the weekend. Joseph wishes everyone happy hunting and fishing, by being safe.
