2008 Silverado
All new in 2007, and named Motor Trend Truck of the Year and North American Truck of the Year, the Silverado rolls right into 2008 with its segment-leading power, exceptional trailer towing capability and fuel economy. Simply put, it's "The Best Truck." In the 1/2-ton configuration, Silverado's platform supports a smooth ride and responsive, confident handling while delivering exceptional capability and power.
A lineup of six Gen IV smallblock V8 engines complements the strong chassis, and features like standard StabiliTrak provide a new level of light truck performance and capability. When it comes to the heavy duty 2500HD and 3500HD pickups, Silverado features distinct designs, comfortable interiors and class leading powertrains. All these items go together to reaffirm the Chevrolet legacy of strength, capability and performance as well as being the most dependable, longest-lasting pickup on the market. Silverado appears in the following packages for 2008:
Silverado 1500 Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD
Work Truck - 1WT Work Truck - 1WT
LS - 1LS
LT - 1LT, 2LT LT - 1LT, 2LT

WHAT'S NEW
• Exterior colors: Dark Cherry Metallic, Deep Ruby Metallic.
• High Idle Switch used on 2500HD and 3500HD models. It is an option primarily for fleet and commercial customers and is not a separate switch. Requires cruise control switches to activate and is displayed on the Driver Information Center.
• XM Satellite Radio standard on all models.
• 17" tires and wheels on 3500HD with dual rear wheels.
• Integrated trailer brake controller added as an option on 1500 model. A segment exclusive for light duty trucks.
TOP 10 FEATURES
1. Power Pack Option Package - Available on 1500 series Extended and Crew Cab models, this package offers a savings of $500. It contains the 5.3L V8, locking differential, heavy duty trailering and 17" aluminum wheels.
2. Eaton automatic locking rear differential (G80) - Available on all models, either as an option or part of the package, it automatically locks the left and right rear wheels together when slippage is detected at lower speeds. This sends maximum drive power to the wheel with traction, which is more effective than the traditional limited-slip differentials used on some full-size pickup competitors.
3. NHTSA 5-star rating for frontal impact - Silverado is far more than just a good-looking truck. The 2008 1/2-ton models received a 5-star frontal crash test rating from the U.S. Government, something that's not shared among all full-size pickup competitors.
4. Integrated trailer brake controller - New on LD models, engineered right into the truck the integrated trailer brake controller eliminates the need for aftermarket "hang-on" trailer brake controllers. Because it's part of the truck, the controller ensures quality, compatibility as well as a more attractive appearance.
5. Segment-leading fuel economy - With exceptional features like Active Fuel
Management(tm) as well as great aerodynamics, Silverado as a lineup has better fuel economy than the competition. Also, the 5.3L V8 is the only full-size pickup to offer more than 300 hp and better than 20 mpg on the highway.
6. Best-in-class heavy duty power - The 6.6L Duramax diesel is the most powerful diesel engine in a heavy duty pickup. The 6.0L Vortec V8 is the most powerful gas V8 in a heavy duty pickup.
7. Best-in-class capabilities - There are many examples of capability throughout the Silverado lineup, nuggets that you can search out. Here are two examples: the 1/2-ton 4X4 Crew Cab leads its direct competitors in payload at 1965 lbs. as well as trailer towing capacity at 10,500 lbs.
8. Fully boxed frame - With full boxing of the frame for its entire length, Silverado 1500 provides exceptional torsional rigidity. Rigidity of the frame allows the suspension to perform to its utmost as well as providing great load carrying and trailer towing capabilities.
9. Powertrain warranty - At 5 years/100,000 miles, GM sets the benchmark for other light truck manufacturers with the best warranty in the industry.
10. Cargo Management System - This Silverado exclusive feature is available for an MSRP of only $195 for '08MY.
