I know this is probably a little to late but usually its pretty successful when i can find a spot preseason that i know is going to have deer traffic going through it and leave it alone for the whole season just for the post rut and hunt my other stands. This way the deer arent getting any pressure in that area and the chances of that big boy slipping out in daylight hours is a little better than at other spots.
