Post-Season Deer Scouting

Whitetail DeerPerhaps the most useful thing you can learn from post-season deer scouting is where the deer, and particularly the buck, end up.

Get out right after the season is over and take a look. Once the hunting pressure slacks off, and certainly by the time spring green-up occurs, deer will go on to new patterns to accommodate new environment conditions. That’s why it’s so important to scout right after hunting season.

Check Out Our Video TipsYou want to know just where all the deer were when hunting season ended, so look for well used trails and other active sign. Try to discover late-season food and feeding patterns. Look for buck sanctuaries, which will likely be different from buck hangouts from the early and middle parts of the season. By knowing where your deer went, you can get there first next year.
