From the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish

-- More than 1,000 youth-only elk licenses for the 2010 season are still available on the New Mexico Game and Fish website, with online sales beginning  Aug. 11 for the more than 2,700 deer licenses and 430 javelina licenses remaining.

The licenses, left over from the regular drawing, are available through online sales,  first-come, first-served. They are available only on the Fish and Game website.

Youth Encouragement Hunt sales opened Aug. 4 for elk licenses reserved only for eligible youths younger than age 18. Sales close 10 days before the beginning of the hunts. Deer and javelina license sales  available to youths and adults begin  Aug. 11.

Hunters are strongly advised to obtain or review an online customer account, including a Customer Identification Number, user name and password before the sales begin. Popular hunts sell out minutes, sometimes seconds after the sales begin.
