From New Hampshire Fish and Game Department
-- Hunters who want a chance to hunt moose in New Hampshire this fall have until May 25 to submit an application for the moose hunt lottery.
This year, 275 hunters will be offered permits to participate in the state’s moose hunt Oct. 20 to 28. Last year's statewide hunter success rate for moose was 71 percent.
To enter or to apply online or print out a mail-in application, or pick up a lottery application from any Fish and Game office or license agent or visit http://www.huntnh.com.
The entry fee is $15 for New Hampshire residents and $25 for nonresidents. Lottery applications must be postmarked or submitted online by midnight May 25, or delivered to NH Fish and Game headquarters in Concord before 4 p.m. May 25.
Applications submitted by mail must be postmarked no later than midnight, May 25 to be eligible for the lottery. If submitting a paper application by mail on May 25, take it to the post office and request that it be postmarked while you are there. Dropping it in a mailbox does not ensure it will be postmarked by the deadline.
If possible, apply online because it greatly reduces the chance of omitting information or making a mistake. Late or incomplete applications are not accepted.
Applicants can enter the moose hunt lottery only once each year. A bonus point system improves the chances for unsuccessful applicants who apply each consecutive year. Miss a year and lose points.
Winners will be selected through a computerized random drawing on June 15. For more information on moose hunting in New Hampshire, visit http://www.huntnh.com/Hunting/Hunt_species/hunt_moose.htm.
