From the National Shooting Sports Foundation
-- Twenty percent growth in five years—that’s the target for growing shooting sports at the college level. The new initiative launched by the National Shooting Sports Foundation. NSSF's Collegiate Shooting Sports Initiative (CSSI) will provide both financial and non-financial support to assist in creating new college shooting teams and clubs and strengthening existing programs.
"Youth shooting programs are very popular nationwide with students in grades 12 and under," said NSSF's Zach Snow, who will be heading up the initiative. "As these students go off to college, many would jump at the opportunity to get involved or continue their participation in the shooting sports -- just like athletes in other sports. Through the Collegiate Shooting Sports Initiative, NSSF's goal is to provide colleges and universities with the tools they need to take the initiative and help grow the shooting sports at the college level."
The initiative's emphasis on growth is through team competition in rifle, pistol and shotgun at the local, regional and national levels. NSSF's targeted growth at the college level mirrors that of the Foundation's ambitious goal of increasing participation in hunting and the shooting sports by 20 percent over the next five years.
