The 37th bi-annual B.O.W. (Becoming an Outdoors-Woman) event recently took place at the Alabama 4-H Center in Columbiana, Alabama.
On the weekend of March 1, 2013, the event brought together an array of women who share a passion for the outdoors. They traveled to Alabama from neighboring states and even Canada.
Hunting industry instructors, Dawn Singleton and Tes Jolly, had the pleasure of instructing several of these amazing ladies in archery and bowhunting.
Besides lessons in the basics of archery, the women enjoyed target shooting, learning how to climb treestands and safety, estimating range on game, and they even had a friendly 3-D target competition on an archery range in the woods.
Not only did they learn those outdoor skills, but also had wonderful fellowship with other women who share the same passion for the outdoors.
B.O.W. events are for women of all ages, and the March event was blessed with participants ranging from 18 to 84.
Becoming an Outdoors-Woman is held twice each year at the Alabama 4-H Center near Columbiana in Shelby County, Alabama. The cost for the weekend adventure is $225, which covers meals, lodging, program materials and instruction. All instructional equipment is provided.
