From Massachusetts Department of Fish and Game
-- Massachusetts deer hunters have until July 16 to apply for an antlerless deer permit. There are two new steps hunters must complete this year.
MassWildlife will no longer conduct a permit drawing, and hunters' chances of winning will no longer involve hunting/sporting license numbers.
Second, MassWildlife will no longer mail notification or remittance postcards to customers.
Hunters who have not yet applied can submit an application at a local license vendor or online at http://www.mass.gov/dfwele/dfw/recreation/licensing/permits/adp_home.htm.
There is no fee to apply for an antlerless deer permit.
Beginning Aug. 1 through the end of the calendar year, antlerless deer permit applicants must return to the website to try to win antlerless deer permits in the zones for which they previously applied.
The Instant Award system is still be based on a percent chance of winning, but permit issuance will be completely random rather than based on the last digit of a hunting/sporting license number. All permits expire Dec. 31 of the year issued.
