Smart deer hunters set up several stand sites for an individual buck or hunt different areas.
A buck will soon figure out that someone is out to get him. If you hunt from the same stand all the time, he will simply avoid that one area. Have several stands and divide your hunting time among them.
It’s also good to have different hunting areas with several stand sites on each. This works on the same principle as hunting a specific buck from multiple locations in his home range. By mixing up your hunting locations, you might mix up the deer.
Select different stands that can be hunted in various wind and weather conditions. Also consider factors like thermals, the lay of the land and sun direction. At the minimum, have morning and afternoon sites so the rising or setting sun isn’t in your eyes the whole time.
