-- Upstate Mobility Impaired Deer Hunts planned in October

Mobility impaired hunters will again be treated to a unique opportunity to attend two special deer hunts this year on about 50 well-managed and exclusive, private tracts of land in the Upstate. The mobility impaired hunts are scheduled for Oct. 23-24 in Cherokee, Spartanburg and Union counties and on Oct. 30-31 in Laurens and Newberry counties. Youth Encouraged to Hunt Bluefield/Moultrie Hunt Units

Applications are now being accepted for a series of youth draw deer hunts as part of the Santee Cooper-owned Moultrie Hunt Unit.  The hunts are conducted jointly by Santee Cooper and the S.C. Department of Natural Resources this fall. The deadline for applications is 5 p.m. Sept. 18.  Call the Dennis Wildlife Center in Bonneau at (843) 761-8820 or (843) 825-3388 to request an application. In addition to the draw youth hunts, youths are encouraged to hunt on the 800-acre Bluefield Wildlife Management Area (WMA), also part of the Moultrie Hunt Unit.  

Two Youth Deer Hunts planned for Orangeburg County

The S.C. Department of Natural Resources in cooperation with MeadWestvaco will conduct two youth deer hunts at the company's Walworth Farms tract in Orangeburg County.  The youth deer hunts are scheduled on Nov. 7 and Dec. 5.  There will be eight youth participating in each hunt.  Applications for the Nov. 7 and Dec. 5 youth deer hunts are available from the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Columbia office or the DNR Web site at: Applications can also be copied. Completed applications must be received at the Columbia DNR office by 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16 for the hunts. DNR, Air Force plan Youth Deer Hunt at Poinsett Electronic Combat Range

The S.C. Department of Natural Resources in cooperation with the United States Air Force Shaw Air Force Base Environmental Flight will conduct a special youth deer hunt at the Poinsett Electronic Combat Range in Sumter County. This hunt is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 7. Fifteen youth will be selected by random drawing to participate in this special hunt, and there is no application fee or hunting license required for those youth 15 and younger.
