With the number of people participating in game management increasing rapidly, it seemed inevitable that there would be a migration to online management tools. Last year, that inevitability met reality when Moultrie introduced their Game Management System driven by the Game Spy i45 and i65 cameras and the GPS Game Spy Connect cellular accessory. Now Moultrie has expanded their offering in the online game management category by developing a feature-rich, inexpensive, infrared flash camera in the Game Spy i35.
The first big plus for this economical option, is the fact that it is compatible with Moultrie’s Game Management System. By simply purchasing a GPS Game Spy Connect and a plan on the Moultrie Game Management website you can view, plot and sort your pictures from the comfort of your own home, meaning less travel time and decreasing the likelihood of contaminating your hunting property. The results you see will be images with a “photo strip” that displays the temperature, moon phase, time, date and camera ID. The only notable limitation that you encounter after purchasing this less-expensive, infrared option is that you will not be able to change your camera settings remotely. However, you will still be able to check your camera’s battery life.
As for actually setting up this 4.0 megapixel camera, it remains as simple as ever because of the menu-driven LCD that helps facilitate a time efficient set-up during which you can adjust the picture delay setting between one and sixty (1-60) minutes, set-up a multi-shot sequence of up to 3-shots with 4-second between shots, adjust the resolution on your pictures by choosing one of the four options available, and choose one of two resolution settings for your video capture. Once you have finished selecting those options, you can simply use the convenient infrared aiming feature to complete a quick, simple and precise set-up.
Once you have completed the set-up and are ready to head back to the house, you can be confident that the improved weather-resistant casing will protect the camera and its Realtree APG camo will keep it concealed. Plus, the LCD can easily show you remaining battery life, how many pictures have been taken, how many pictures your camera can still take, and a delay timer that shows how much time will elapse before your camera goes back into “ready” mode.
Additionally the Game Spy i35 camera features an SD card slot that will allow you to use up to a 16GB SDHC card. Operating on 6 C-cell batteries, users have the option of adding Moultrie’s Power Panel to fuel the unit via solar panel and 12-volt battery. The expansive memory feature, combined with the upgradeable software feature and the option to extend your battery life, help to make this camera one of the most user-friendly options on the market.
