From West Virginia Division of Natural Resources
-- Special antlerless archery and antlerless muzzleloader seasons open on private land only in select counties throughout the West Virginia.
The early archery season opens Sept. 12, and closes Sept. 17. Early muzzleloader season opens Sept. 19 and closes Sept. 24.
Hunters must purchase a Class RB or RRB stamp which allows harvesting of one antlerless deer on private land during the special archery season. A Class RM or RRM stamp is required for early muzzleloader season.
If a hunter does not fill a tag during either season, the stamp can be used during the regular archery or muzzleloader season. Landowners hunting on their own land or holders of DT licenses are not required to buy a stamp.
With early seasons, hunters who seek processing assistance should plan on how to keep their deer cool until it can be processed. Hunters may want to call ahead to local meat processors to find out if they are accepting deer in September.
More information on West Virginia hunting seasons can be found in the 2011-2012 West Virginia Hunting and Trapping Regulations brochure online at http://www.wvdnr.gov/hunting/hunting_regs.shtm.
