BUCKMASTERS ULTIMATE
Buckmasters Ultimate is the ultimate food plot seed combination because of its unique combination of clovers and chicory. Buckmasters Ultimate has the highest protein and is the most persistent combination of seed we offer on the market today. With up to 38% protein and over 75% digestibility, this mixture was designed to grow year round and lasts for years without replanting. To do this we have selected only the best Pennington varieties of perennial white clover, and blended them with the best red clovers and reseeding annual clovers to provide a clover combination that is "Nutrient Dense."
Durana and Patriot white clovers are university proven persistent, grazing tolerant and high protein making them the best white clovers on the market today. These two clovers have a second root system called stolons that grow on top of the ground spreading aggressively into open areas. These are the plants' energy reserves, and the powerhouse that makes the plants re-grow after defoliation and tough summer droughts.
This aggressive stolon activity is responsible for the durability and persistence of these two clovers. University trials have proven that these two varieties last up to three times longer than the other commercially available varieties on the market today. The stolons give the plant a very dense leaf structure that helps to shade the ground, blocking weeds and providing more protein rich plant material. Durana and Patriot are low maintenance and tolerate acidic soil conditions.
These clovers work to bring minerals into the leaves of the plants that normal grasses cannot; minerals such as Calcium and Phosphorus, two major components of antler tissue. These clovers produce their own nitrogen by fixing atmospheric nitrogen into their root systems and releasing it into a form that can be utilized not only by the clovers, but surrounding plants as well.
This nitrogen fixation process can produce over 100 pounds of nitrogen per acre annually, saving you over $40 per acre on commercial nitrogen costs. These clovers can help to build up organic matter in the soil thus creating more moisture retention which helps reduce stress during droughts.
To produce the ultimate year-round plot and add even more protein, we have included Choice Chicory, a very persistent perennial forb that tolerates even the worst droughts. Choice Chicory contains over 38% protein and over 80% digestibility in its leaves, making it irresistible to white-tailed deer. This plant has an extensive tap root system that on some soils can reach 6 feet deep. This helps plants pull minerals from deep within the earth, making them available in its leaves. Choice Chicory is very grazing tolerant and easy to manage, making it an ideal replacement for alfalfa in food plots.
