Field Test: White Hots Preformed Charges By Randy D. Smith -- To give you an idea of the uniform accuracy potential of White Hots Preformed Charges, I used two .50 caliber muzzleloaders, a new Traditions Guide Gun and a Knight DISC Excel, for a brief sight-in test. I had just mounted new bore-sighted, fixed-power 4X scopes on both rifles. I set up a portable target board at 50 yards away and fired from a bag rest.

| I shot three loads with the Knight Excel using a 4X Brunton scope from a clean bore with no wiping passes between shots. The load was two preformed charges of White Hots and 435-grain White Power Star sabots. |
I then shot three loads with the Traditions Guide Gun using a 4X Traditions Bronze scope from a clean bore with no wiping passes between shots. The load was two preformed charges of White Hots and 300-grain Traditions APB Easy-Load sabots. |
I ran one wet patch through the Knight Excel and after resetting the scope, I moved the target to 100 yards and shot this five-shot test group with no wiping passes between shots with the same load of two preformed White Hots charges and 435-grain White Power Star sabots. |
While I'm certain I could shoot better groups from a solid rest shooting bench with wiping patches run between each load, this test revealed that IMR's muzzleloader charges produce consistent shots in different rifles with substantially different projectile weights. Print Article |
