I do agree Hunterman.... I've been gone for awhile.. like I mentioned in a post I have moved and I had some computer issues. I have more time now to get on here. Some of this is crap... or BS on here.... that happens. From what I have seen.... some of the "In Crowd" that post it.... get a response of laughs and pats on the back and those of the "Not So In Crowd" get negative and rude comments left for them. That happens also. Different strokes for different folks. I've seen members who have had 8 plus pages on their divorce woes with great feedback and then other members who just mention it in one post and get ridiculed. Depends on who you are or who you know or what think they know of you. If the "In Crowd" likes someone then it is all cool.... if they don't.... Wow... so much is based on speculation.

I go on and on with my own verbal diarrhea... always have... I guess I'm opinionated. But see how many who have not posted in awhile.... have done so in this subject.... it is nice to see that.

Good to see you back Melsue. We were beginning to wonder about you...
Your opinion is always welcome here. Speaking for myself alone, of course.

Fortunately, my woes are on a back burner til the end of season. More of us hafta get our priorities straight.

I think that with almost everything in life there are natural cycles of highs and lows that occur.  I just turned 50.  I have been obsessed with deer hunting for 38 years.  There is not a lot of things that I read about deer hunting that I have'nt already read.  I have settled into a pattern  of planing and preparation each year that pays off quite often.  I have gone right back to where I was 30 years ago, as far as my equipment that I take afield.  But, my knowledge has grown considerably.  I went through the gadget and gimmick stage.  The baiting stage. The climbing up a stupid and unsafe tree stage. I view the deer as no different than myself.   I like to be warm, well fed, A good place to sleep, and at certain times of the year (lol) I am driven by an urge I can't explain.  And when I travel from one place to another, I always consider my safety and familys safety first.
I don't think deer are any different.  So when I plan a hunt I ask myself.  Where are they sleeping? Where are they going to eat during daylight, (daylight is the key).  And when it is the rut, I ask Where are all the women (Does) and then I just try to get in there path in the thickest cover possible.  Simple.

What I am saying is that sometimes articles and information about deer hunting itself become boring.

It is the life experiences and views of hunters from all different parts of the country that are interesting.  The things that people fight for.  The things that people build with there own hands.  There opinions on everyday life.  Storys of Patriotism.  Storys from our Youth.  And the ability to voice an opinion occassional that creates a little contraversy without having someone interfering unless it really is a problem.  I like conflict at times.  I like contraversy.  But, only because I am passionate.

Never participated in the Chatroom when it was here.  But, after reading what others have said about it.  It sounds just like when I go to the coffee shop in the morning to hash things over with my buddies.

just who we need to get things going, nice to see you`re still kicking Bulldog. You could make the most boring of threads a hot topic just by pulling at the author`s chain, it usually worked. It seems like everybody is going status quo , all the same opinions and nobody wants to offend anybody else, time to rattle some chains Bulldog.

Did you guys ever think of starting a daily thread like it use to be, so you could hang around and just shoot the bull without asking the same deer hunting question day in and day out.

I hate to say it(not really)but Bobo has pretty much nailed it on the head. This place used to rock, day, nite 7 days a week. There was times I needed a nap at lunch time at work because I was in the chat room, way to late. Also I'd like to tip my hat to Lumberrick's post as well,he's also summomed it up nicely. The PC issue on here is strangling this board to death,I've read ethical till I'd like to puke.(I ain't talking about breaking the laws either,so don't start)
I will however expand on Bobo's post, this place used to be about friends,as in coming to someones front porch, setting in a rocker and just plain visting for a spell.About 1/2 the time in the old chat most folks weren't even talking about hunting deer,it was about enjoying each others company. Some very old and long lasting freindships were formed...why?.....people were diffent(maybe)...we actually cared about each other, lol, yes even for the folks that we didn't get along with to well.
Oh well ,enuf of this wimpy PC stuff, being a pain in the butt, and disagreeing is way more fun

Good morning btr568, I use to live and hunt in Ms. up around the Greenville area, man those were some good days and plenty of game. Moved to the piney hills of La. in 79 and I sure miss the Ms. hardwood bottoms.

And Howard long time no type I hope you finally got straight from Katrina and pray the other hurricanes did you no harm this time around. You sure had your hands full a few years back, but believe you handled the situaition well.

Hey... Thanks for remembering about my brother.  He has moved to higher ground in Cedar Rapids.  It is actually closer to the side of town where he works at Fed Ex.  He has a clean, dry place to live now for him and his cat and is slowly replacing things he lost and that... he says.. is the most important to him.. to hav a place to live again.  He does have lingering depression from the overall experience that he says he just cannot shake off.  We try to visit him every few months... as often as the gas prices will allow us to get there from Illinois.  Thank Goodness gas has gone down a little bit lately.

How are you and your family?

Here I am after a long absence for the most part. Years ago, it seemed a lot of of us " lived " on here & it was fun. It made Deer Season all that more special. Things changed here & I for one ( including others ), lost interest in what had become. It's harder to post pics , you can't change your typos after posting & basically, the powers that be seem to have a .... take it or leave it attitude.
I look in here once every other blue moon I guess, & I just haven't seen anything that catches my interest. I don't know why that is & I don't mean any negativity from that, but that's that.

Hey There.... long time.... miss our chats on here and msn from time to time.  There is an edit feature now so you can or should be able to edit your posts... there was not one in the beginning of the new site but has since been added.

Don't be a stranger.... You know you may be the one to post something great that will catch someone else's interest..... and so on and so on.....

It's great to see you post Trey.  How'd you fare from Gustov?  That dang thing done messed up most of the state.  My parents got rid of the old broken down house and my oldest brother has them living in the LaPlace area.  I'm in a second floor apartment, so I only lost what little food I had in the frezzer during gustov's power outage.
Have you gone out yet to bust them bushytails?  I wanted to go out the weekend opener but couldn't.  bummer.

I try to keep him and everyone's issues here in my daily prayers.  A place to live that's clean and dry-  alot of people gave hassle about the FEMA trailers, but for me and my parents it was that way or no place to live.  I was thankful to be in the trailer, even when it would leak during a heavy rain or cold in the winter.  The feelings he has may be long lasting, as mine and those around me feel.  It's not easy for people who have not experienced it or have large resources to really understand the emotional toll of losing everything and wondering where they will live, and eat.  If he needs to vent, etc. you can have him contact me.
Best wishes.

I don't squirrel hunt anymore Howard, just chase deer and bass during oct.  Of which I have done neither. But fixing to hit it hard. Glad Gustov left you no worst from wear, we just got alot of rain which we probally needed anyway. Other than that all is good.

I agree with Trey, why not start a daily thread,so we can talk about "stuff".Some here have become very good friends and like to mix hunting and daily life talk.
Yeah, there have been changes here and in many of our lives,so let's make something new out of all of it......not look for the negative side of it.

And the first mod that checks in for the day can delete the passed days post so as not to clog up the board. I'm here to tell that most of the old regulars are gone, me included, because there is just nothing so everyone can interact with each other. The same old topics are quite boring. Another site I belong to we have plenty of boards and topic from news to hunting to sports and family. But the one that draws most the attention is the daily thread. Someone each morning will start a new thread mostly starting with the day of the week in the heading and all day long people are on it chatting and laughing, carry on and even making smartazz remarks to each all in fun. Heck it ain't  nothing but letters on a computer screen.  Anyway just my 2 cents, but you guys are missing alot of friendships to made, I'm glad I didn't.

Who am I to have the knowledge why this place is not a drop in the bucket in comparison to the past?
Maybe it is basically carnage now, roadkill if you will.
I firmly believe that hunters are a tight nit community, and sorry to say the tactics and methods of Admins on here have run people off.
Why would they want to come back until there is some serious personell changes starting at the top?
What amazes me, is people "supposedly" retire, or have computer problems, only to return to
negate any progress that has been made towards allowing this to be a awesome place with any
resemblance of the past.

But that is just me.
