Were we hunt we have killed 6 bucks in the last 3 years at this farm. Everyone of them had a messed up right side. It would be only the right side thats messed up. Is it because the breeder buck had a bad right side? Why do u think this is???
Thanks

No pics. There points if they developed good they would be broken up or broken off.

then it could be a mineral or lack of mineral issue
i have an 8 pointer that has one side messed up, looks like he bumped it when it was soft and then continued to grow.
wonder, if a calcium deficiency would cause brittle horns?

I could see a deer with a messed up rack or a few broken points but all weve killed there have been the same way. Im thinking more like willy.. Bad genes.

There were some nice deer killed there a 7 or 8 years ago. I let 3 bucks go opening morning that were to small but there rack were so messed up that I sat in the tree and laughed when they walked off.

That could be true monkey. We have a few food plots there but that dont mean the bucks are getting everything they need. The guy that lives there has seen a nice high horn 8 point the last 2 years there but when the season opens hes only seen at night when the guy comes home. Smart critter there..LOL

well it aslo could be the genes but from the way it sounds it just how my land start with loads of nice deer coming out of it then they stopped doe hunting for a few year the deer pop got out of controll and and there bucks racks was always broke and messed up even on big 6 and 7 year old bucks. we had one buck that came down to my house everyday was a broken up 3 pt say about 4 1/2 most ppl would say call buck we even gave him a name "dopey" bc he was a dumb deer used walk right up to use we feed him apples and we gave him deer pellets and food, and in one year he shot up from a stick looking 3 to a wide nice 9pt sad to say he live by his name a was stuck by a car that year but .just goes to show if they dont got the right food there genes might never show

Ive let deer walk that I know needed taking out of the herd. I let 2 small young bucks with bad racks walk and shot a BIG doe that was with them. She was a biggggg...... I know that may not be the way to manage the deer herd but I just find it hard to shot the small ones.
Thanks

Im gunna go with u guys I would say it is bad gene's just being pasted down. It is the only reasonable explanation.
