I was told to aim for the base of the neck,so your pattern would cover the neck and head.

before shooting at any turkey pattern your gun so you know where its hitting, no sense shooting for anything if you don't know where the pellets hit. Once you know that head/neck shots is what you want

I was watching this turkey huntn show, and they vitals are my the tail feathers, but every one I know shoots for the base of the neck

with the bow, if the turkey is facing away from you then yes at where the fan tail meets is a good shot but with a shotgun the ONLY shot you take on a turkey is its head/neck

yea they were huntn with a pistol and shot the turkey my the tail feathers, I dont hink anyone is stupid enought to shoot for the body with a shotgun

Here's another one for actually shot placement with the bow.

If you're taking about shotgun shot placement, then you should be aiming for the either the base of the neck where the feathers stop or in the middle of the neck (that's where I like to aim).  Both of these shot (like other said) will keep your shotgun pattern center of where it will do the most dangage.
