here is my ?  i bought a rossie 20ga for my son and he wanted to try turkey hunting. so i asked around about shot size and i was told to use #6. which would be better to use for him he is only 7. his gun is chamber for both 2 3/4 and 3 in with a modified barrel. or should i say which is better for turkey a high brass or low brass

I would think a load specifically designed for turkey hunting would be best.

I would say a 3" #4 or #6 and invest in a GOOD recoil pad for the youngster,him being only 7 you may want to stick with the 2 3/4 low brass.

Ideally get the high brass...or wait for a very close shot that's on target...no need to injure a bird and have your son feeling bad because of it. I'd better just agree with tubby on this.

3 " would be better but only if he is not bothered by recoil. If he doesn't enjoy shooting he won't enjoy hunting.

Yea but it ain't that easy to knock out a Tom with low brass. High Brass # 4 in two and three qaurter inch.  Have him practice and that would be the best bet. Since you have a mod. choke you need the tightest pattern possibe. I would recomend 3"  but that would hurt any seven year old
