I recieved this same story in an email a few months ago. It is great material, regardless of who said it.

Oh and let me add, I donated a bunch of belts to the Salvation Army in the hopes that some needy teenagers would be able to cover up their checkered boxers now!

These kids don't need belts (most have them on)!  WHITE, BLACK, YELLOW & RED, what they need is parents/or a parent who will teach them to not dress like thugs!  They need someone who will raise them right, teach them about self-respect, respect for others & show them right from wrong!  They need to be taught that they are accountable for their actions.  That the world owes them NOTHING!  That the reason they can't get a job is because no one wants to hire someone who looks, walks, talks & acts like a THUG!  It doesn't take a village to raise a child, it takes someone who CARES!

Man that is a tall soap box,but I agree 100%.There is a big difference between having kids and being a parent. Our kids are our future,I teach my kids to be repectful of other people and other peoples stuff.

The parents would have to actually do something to accomplish this though. Most parents are too busy with their own stinkin lives to get off their arse and care for their kids!

Oh my life is too rough, you have to do this and that and blah blah blah...wake up and smell the roses eh?!?! It's only as hard as you make it!

I agree 110% I don't think it's right that my child should have to learn spanish in school .If they want to live in the great USA then let make them learn our language be it southern, northern or redneck just as long as I can understand you.

I am placing this post to say I am sorry and I was wrong, I read the posted topic in an e-mail and thought I'd pass it on.  I was only doing cut and paste. After reading how many of you posted your thoughts and opinions(which was the intention) many of you said Mr.Rooney would NOT have said such things.Well you were right. I placed an e-mail to CBS regarding this topic, this is the responce I got ..(cut and pasted from my comcast e-mail)....

Thank you for writing to CBS. The editorial about which you wrote and
which was attributed to Andy Rooney was not written by him, nor is Mr.
Rooney in any way associated with this commentary. It is a complete
fabrication.

Again,I do apologize for the posting the original topic.
