| | Nope,I don't think there is such a thing. It's a real shame when people can sneak across the border and get more health care for free(well,we are paying for it),when we can't afford the rising cost of health insurance.Even though they are here illegally social services and charities are easily available. Why? | | Tubby The God of My Rock;He Is My Sheild; And The Horn Of My Salvation 2 Samuuel,Ch 22 | |

| From what I have seen with my dad and my mom there isn't now such thing as affordable health insurance. Unless you are in a situation like me. But for that you need to be either a Retired Military veteran, or a disabled veteran. I am disabled and I get 100% medical and dental taken care of. But then again I am concidered to be 100% disabled too. I know the lower your disability rating, the less medical care you get.
If I remember right 80 to 100 percent is all free. It might even be 60 to 100, but I don't remember for sure.
I know that the retired vets don't get free though, they have to pay some monthly thing. I am not sure what it is. And I am not sure if this payment thing is for the family or for both a single veteran or what. I did not get to retire, so I am not sure how that works. I just know that a Navy Buddy of mine who retired last year has something taken out of his retirement pay every month for him and his family.
But that is the only affordable one I can think of. Because the one that my dad gets thru his work has some huge deductable for the doctor and the meds and by the time he gets his deductable for the meds paid the new term starts over. I don't remeber what he pays but I know he has 3 meds and all but one is over $80 a month the other is $50 a month or more.
I think this health care stuff is out of this world. It has gone totally crazy with the cost... | | Ronald Lee Ray Jr. rrjr11@cox.net Disabled Navy Veteran | |

| | Best way across the board to lower rate is to raise the deductable. Of course you have to pay for office visits etc but the insurance is there for hospitalization or major illness. | | | |

| | you could try e-healthinsurance.com . You can get quotes on different plans there and compare the rates, co-pays & deductables. If you are not comfortable with doing it online then you might want to visit a independent agent who can do the same. | | | |

| I work in health care. The more costs rise, the higher insurance will react. It's an un-ending cycle. Much of the problem is that we continue to place higher demands and taxing the system. The better we all control our costs and wastes, the higher chance we all have to contain health costs and thus insurance costs.
There are several new and innovative concepts out there. One was pioneered by the state of Minnesota for it's employees. It's a catastrophic plan with a small savings account. You choose what the account is used for. At the end of the year, any surplus is rolled into next year. That way, you can choose what medications it will cover and what portion of the doctors visits are covered. What is brilliant here is it places YOU in the drivers seat. That way you can determine which physician to see for how much money. It cuts the wastes associated in seeing unnecessary or expensive specialists.
The nice thing about the plan is that it swoops in if you have a catastrophe. It's great for a person who's diligent in containing their healthcare costs, and that is relatively healthy
Good luck | | | |

| Those plans are called High Deductable Health Plans. With them you can also set up an HSA. (Health Savings Account) that you can put pre-tax money in to pay the deductable. HSA's are only available to people with HDHPs. | | | |

| | I agree with most people on here that affordable health ins. is a thing of the past. My rate has risen to $750.00 a month for my wife and 2 kids, my employer pays my part or it would be over 1 grand a month. Its just rediculas | | wake me up early, be good to my dogs and teach my children to pray. | |
