| I was in my stand monday morning after the weekend youth hunt, about 7:30 I heard a shot, I allmost jumped out of my stand it scared me so much, anyone that has hunted deer long knows the sound of a rifle and the tell-tell slap behind the shot, so I know he hit whatever he shot at, within 10 minutes I heard the 4-wheeler. it came up the hill and stopped, 15 minutes later I heard it start and go out , it was struggling to make it up and down these hills, I figured 2 men 1 deer was a pretty good load.
now I am not saying he killed a deer but it was all very suspisous to me. if I knew for sure it was a deer I would call the game warden. what would you do ? if we all have to follow the rules so do they. | | Hillbilly Willy Today is the day the Lord hath made, I will rejoice and be glad in it

| | Sometimes a call to the game wardens will prevent future acts, even if the event in question turns out to be legal activity. To me,a poacher is the same as a theif. | | Tubby The God of My Rock;He Is My Sheild; And The Horn Of My Salvation 2 Samuuel,Ch 22 | |

| | Be carefull approaching on your own.We have just over 300 acres heres in western MI that only family hunts. two years ago we had six guys in two pickups stop on the gravel road and star to push hunt our land.when confronted it turned into a very tense armed standoff for a minute. Poachers and trespassers can be snakey people.OH by the way we won. | | | |

| A very wise person told me once, that I should believe half of what I saw and none of what I heard. The sound of a bullet striking an object doesn't indicate that the intended target was aquired, only that a bullet struck an object. If you assume that the four wheeler was driven to a dead deer and that dead deer was loaded then hauled away, it would be expected to take no more than about five minutes. Fifteen minutes is about the time the average hunter looks for blood and gives up after not finding any or finding an insufficient amount of it.
What you heard, may well have been exactly what you think you heard. It may have as easily been a guy shooting his rifle to be sure it would be good when deer season opens. Until some evidence presents itself to you that you have crooked neighbors, I would recommend greeting them with a smile and establishing a friendly rapport with them. You may find that they are good people and much like yourself.

go back and read the post again I said I could not say for sure he killed a deer, and 15 min is not a long time for the hills around here they're srtaight up, and the neighbor's we're talking about are the kind that do just what I said poach

| Like I said call and have the DNR check into it,chances are if the neighbors are prone to poaching.....well a zebra doesn't change it's stripes.I would not say blame anyone just ask the DNR to look into it. Poaching is nothing more than stealing to me and if you have a suspicion of it happening call, may turn out to be nothing, then again it could possibly stop future attempts. | | Tubby The God of My Rock;He Is My Sheild; And The Horn Of My Salvation 2 Samuuel,Ch 22 | |

| | I know that if I was minding my own business and my neighbor thought he heard me doing something illegal but wasn't sure so he called the authorities to check me out because he was suspicious of me, I'd be p!ssed! | | | |

| I thwarted road hunters a couple times over this last deer season. There was a truck stopped on a bridge on the highway, and my Dad say a buck standing in the creek. So I stopped my truck right there also. If they took a shot from the highway, law enforcement was getting a call immediately. There were some guys across from our property holding a "drive" three guys were standing on the gravel road that separates our properties. I parked my truck right on the road and watched. A buck did run from our property, but the guys on the road for some reason passed on the shot. :-)
I hate poachers as much as PETA people.

Good Move GW! Lawbreakers can't stand it when you shine the light of day on them, (and get license numbers and pictures.)
