| | What is your opinion on urinating at your stand or blind? What research has been done to prove the affects of doing so? Thinking about a urnal in my deer blind and wondering if just draining to the ground is fine or if I HAVE TO or NEED to install a catch tank or something. | | | |

| I don't ,here where I grew up and have hunted all my life,we try our best not to pee or poop around our stands. If you were to something like that, dig a hole about 2 or 3 feet deep and fill it about half way with gravel so it has time to filter into the surounding dirt instead of pooling at the very bottom. I done something similar with my heating/ac unit and no water collects on top of the ground.Hope this helps | | Tubby The God of My Rock;He Is My Sheild; And The Horn Of My Salvation 2 Samuuel,Ch 22 | |

| | Oh yeah, you may want to put a "P" trap to keep the oder from comming back up into your stand. If you are not familiar with what I'm refering to it's the S looking thing under your sinks and tubs.No offense, just not sure if you knew what I was talking about. | | Tubby The God of My Rock;He Is My Sheild; And The Horn Of My Salvation 2 Samuuel,Ch 22 | |

| | Tubby, I did think about that but then I realized that the trap might freeze so I'd need a bottle of antifreeze to use as a flushing agent. But then again, does urine freeze? | | | |

| Yeah,I think it would freeze but I think the anti-freeze may be a good idea, then again it may smell to. ???????? Not sure about that.Let me know what you come up with. | | Tubby The God of My Rock;He Is My Sheild; And The Horn Of My Salvation 2 Samuuel,Ch 22 | |

| Have you ever tried a Gatorade bottle? They work great for me...plus the wider opening they have prevents spills. Never tried to poop in one though. Suspect I'd probably want a coffee can- or something similar thats also spill proof and definitely not see through- for that.
Hope I didn't seem vulgar. Sometimes in nature, nature calls and ya' gotta do what ya' gotta do.

ERG!! Sorry for the blank post.
Tubby, you have an a/c/heating unit in your deer stand???
Perhaps a few lead out treches with rocks will work in case the area is usually wet.

Sorry, I should have said the heating/cooling unit at my house, but I do have a nice "Lil Buddy" heater that I carry if it's really cold, which is not often here.

| | No it does not bother deer, most often deer will investigate mock scrapes that we use our own urine to freshen and they have even licked the ground, | | DO NOT REGRET GROWING OLD, SOME ARE DENIED THE PRIVILEGE. | |

| | Given the wide variety of scents and smells that are ineveitable for deer to smell, the idea that they would react to human urine, or even human scent, is a huge variable. Meaning that unless a deer has a reason to associate a particualr smell with a danger signal, they will react to it as they would any other smell. That being said, the reactions can well be a wide variety. Run, ignore, get tense, shy, avoid, or half a hundred other reactions. It really depends on the deer, their mood, and numerous other factors. I don't think you can get a definitive answer to this question. You'd simply have to make your best guess and work at it from trial and error. | | | |

| Very funny story country girl
I also had a simliar experience 3 years ago. I was hunting in the swamp in November in SC Low Country and about 9 am had to pee so got down and walked about 100 yds from climber and took a leak then walked around the area a bit to get the kinks out. climbed back up into climber and sure enough this nice 8 point came wlaking thru right where I took a leak and followed my trail right to my climber. His mistake he ended up in my freezer. LOL
You never know. Maybe that 8 pointer was gay LOL

| I use the Gatorade bottle too.
I have thought of doing just what you are suggesting in my new 4-man box blind. Use water for your flushing agent and wrap the P-trap in thick neoprene insulation and that will keep it from freezing up in milder freezes. Make a small drain field just as Tubby suggested. Heater hose would work great for running down the support post. Include a rectangular funnel at the "release point" for making it easy on the ladies. Wrap the funnel in insulation too so as to muffle any sound. What 'cha think?

Sounds like a great idea, if I have the time, money and a box blind... I only have ladder stands and climbers..
