| | 243,30-30,7mm-08,308,257 Roberts,250/3000 savage just to name a few.If you can shoot a 12 ga.then you can handle any of these fairly easy.Get you some Gun books from the company that make them, you should be able to use anything listed under "Short Actions" | | | |

| | I would also recommend the 270 win,my 13 yr old son shoots it with no problems.......and is very accurate. The calibers mentioned above are also some very good deer rifles. | | Tubby The God of My Rock;He Is My Sheild; And The Horn Of My Salvation 2 Samuuel,Ch 22 | |

| | I like a 25.06, or a .270. Both have great hitting power, low recoil..relatively, and can be a rifle that you can keep for a life time. | | | |

| | Even though I don't have one I would say a 270 would be a good beginning rifle for you. | | sjadventures@cableone.net www.sportsmansjunction.com Booking Hunting Trips Worldwide | |

| 243 is a good cal. But if you think you can swing a muzzle break to your gun then 270 or 30-06. After all when it’s zeroed in and you take a deer the recoil is not noticed. | | | |

| | I can tell you this, The next centerfire I buy will be a 30-06! It has to be the most versatile caliber out there. You can can load it for anything from woodchucks(55grain)all the way up to moose or elk(220grain). Its a true "all around" cartrige!! Yes, it does have a little "kick" but with the new(reduced recoil) ammo and, "hitech"recoil pads on the market today, you can tame that recoil to a manageable level. Speaking of recoil pads, the sims "limbsaver" pads are incredable! I put one on my 870 slug gun(shooting 3" mags), the reduction in recoil was astounding! | | | |
