I use an older Savage 110L 30-06, And I use Remington Core-Loct 150 grain. the past three years I've shot 3 deer each with 1 shot ,not 1 went more than 10 yards afterwards.

I shoot a Model 70 Winchester 3006 with a 180gn power point . Puts them down. Shot placement is the key.

Xkmorris nice to meet you I also shoot Model 70 Winchester 3006 with a 180gn power point. Most of the members in my club changed to smaller gage riffles that fine if they like it I love it. In their decision to change to smaller caliber rifles has enhanced my hunting skill I am a better tracker LOLOLO. Shoot placement is the key no matter what caliber you choose to hunt with. But let’s face it some of us are not the marksman we clam to be. Even when you hit your mark with those small bore riffles a fully mature deer will take it and you still have a tracking job. I am too old to be walking through the wood looking for wounded deer. I rather walk up to and downed deer.

the one-- nice to meet you to. Nothing like a good old model 70 Winchester. I can't tell you how many deer that rifle has put down for me over the years. I don't think I would hunt with any thing else. But no matter what kind of rifle or caliber you use shot placement is the key to a successful harvest of an animal.

xkmorris nice to meet you likewise I have never lost an deer as to date with my 3006 it puts them down for the count. I listen to other hunters all the time talking about how great there caliber are, at some time or another thoes same hunters tell a me about the one they hit and tracked for yards and lost the blood trail and the deer was never recovered.
