I recently got a Browning BLR lightweight 7mm-08 and put a Leupold VX L on it.  The hammer is not easily accessible with gloves on and a racing heart.  I went to the Browning sight and they do not recommend putting an extender on the hammer.  Any comments??????

Thats what happens when you mount the scope that low, those VX L mean L O W - really LOW.
Nice rifle and nice scope but the hammer is quite wide and most of the hammer extenders are for hammers the width of a TC encore which is about half that width of the BLR. I know this is going to go against all logic but I say buy taller rings and raise the scope -a little - if you are now using low rings go to med or possibly high rings just enough so you can work the hammer safely.

Marlin used to make a hammer extension that could be used on your Browning. It will be hard to find tho',Marlin seen the light a bunch of years ago,an now made their hammers with the extension on them from the factory.
