| I think I will purchase an USHD in 20 gauge for next year. I heard that it can be chambered for 3 1/2" slugs. I was wondering if it reaches out that much better than the 3". Has anyone shot either of these guns? Thanks | | | |

| | I've got one in the 12 ga. I love it since I live in Indiana too and can't hunt with a rifle (well not a decent one). I am good to about 175 yrds with it. Mine needs to be clean after every 4 or 5 shots though because it starts to stray but other than that I love it! But you will definitely want to have a different gun though if you are planning on doing any walking. It gets pretty heavy after a while. | | "Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy." Benjamin Franklin | |

| | The 3 inch is plenty. I shoot 2 3/4 inch Lightfields out to 100 yards. | | | |

I agree. I shot this same load from an Ithica M-66 Super Single in 20ga. Killed a 5 pointer and a doe! Neither deer went more than 50yards after being hit. I have hit targets consistently at 75-100 yards with a very small spread! You should be fine!

| I have the 12 and 20 they are sweet.I flip a coin on which to take . The 20 is a 200 yd gun with the Lightfield and the 12 I haven't shot that far yet. It groups in a coffee cup at 100 though. I shoot 2 3/4 Lightfields in both and am happy | | | |

| | Just aout of curiosity, why wouldn't you shoot 3" if they give you flatter trajectory? Is it because they don't group as well? | | | |

| with slugs, useing a 3" or 3.5 slugs over a 2.75, the only thing you really gain is more recoil.
just my opinion, If i could get that much more from a 3" then thats what id use, but you cant so i dont.
for shot its a differant story, turkey mags, buck shot. etc etc etc. then going with a 3 or 3.5 has an advantage.

| | Maybe you can go to the Lightfield site and check out the ballistics. You might want to check Hornady also. They make the 3 1/2 inch slug. | | | |

| | If you have your shotgun rechambered for 3 1/2 inch shells, they do not recommend shooting 2 3/4 inch shells out of it. I don't know about 3 inch shells. | | | |
