I am just getting into muzzleloading and got an offer to buy a used T/C and needed any info on them if anyone has had one. It is a Thompson Center Black Diamond inline blued/syn stck. From what he said it's about 5 years old and his wife got him an Encore so he is selling it. It's one of the first inlines that came out and he is letting it go with basically a starter kit with powder, patches and some sabots and a cheap 4x Tasco scope for $150. I didn't if any of you guys has shot one and how they did. I would just buy a new one but wanted to start with a used one to see what I liked and disliked about it before spending more money since I have never had one... Thanks for your help in advance...

The black diamond was state of the art when it was first introduced. I would still consider it a modern muzzleloader since it is an inline. The real difference between that model and the popular ones today is a removable breech plug. This simplifies cleaning and allows you to unload the gun without having to shoot it. I have never hunted with or had to clean a black diamond but I do hunt with a fella that does. He is wanting to part with only because of the cleaning issue, he would like a removable plug.

I own a black diamond and it does have a removable breech. That doesn't sound like to bad of a deal.

I have owned this same gun for 5 years and I love it. I have always used the bore butter and natural cleaner. Once it was seasoned it was a breeze to clean. Removing the breech plug is not a big deal anymore. Just make sure you put a good amount of Gorilla Grease on it and remove it after shooting or it is tough. I clean mine after I shoot it but I have read recently that I don't need to. I was shooting powerbelts, but they seem to wander compared to my friends Omega, so I will be trying the T/C Shockwaves this year.
