| Tables are for sighting in only...too many variables.
Twist, Barrel Length are big factors.
Even atmospheric pressure, temperature, and thermals will have some slighter effects.
The bottom line is that the trajectories are put on there to give you a ball park, so that you can put a piece of paper out there and see what your rifle does where you like to hunt...
If you're not going to practice at X yards, why would you try shooting a deer at that distance? | | | |

| | I shoot the Remington Core-Lok 150gr 270 rounds. I site in dead on at 200 yrds. This puts me 2" high at 100 and 9.4" low at 300. At 300 yrds I would just lay the crosshairs level with the deers back. I have shot deer out to 200yrds without an issue and would not hesitate to do it again. At 300 yrds, I would use a solid rest. I shot my 200yrd deer off hand but that is me. You may want a rest for that distance as well. | |

| | Rebel, I do not see this as being possible. The reason I say this is I site my 270 in 2" high at 100 and and 9.4" low at 300. Now granted, I shoot the regular Core-Loks and shoot 150gr, but I still do not see this as ballistically possible. Are you sure you do not meen 1" high at 100 and dead on at 250? This I may find possible but still a stretch. | |

| | he told me 1 in high at 100 and he said he dropped a mule deer at 350 yards with it, im sure you know alot more than me but thats just what he said, i mean i have no idea i wasnt there when he shot it and i have never shot my gun that far. it did seem a little suprising to me to, i have heard of other people sightn in at 100 and puttn it 1 to 2 inches high and shootn 300 yrds | | SOUTHERN PRIDE | |

| | I can see shooting 350yrds with the gun sited in 1" high at 100yrds. He would have aimed about 11" high to hit his mark. On a mule deer that would be around 2" above its back. Not out of the question by an meens. With my 270 and the 150gr Core-Lok, I need to aim right on the bucks back at 300yrs to let the bullet drop 9.4". That is figuring that the normal buck will be around 18" from the top of the back to the bottom of the chest. | |

| if you want the best bullet that you can get for the 270, go for the hornady 140 grain boattail sp. sighted in at 1 1/2 inches high at 100 yards you will be dead on at 200 yards, and only 6 inches of drop at 300 yards. or the hornady sp light magnum. these shoot 1 1/2 inches high at 100 yards , dead on at 200 yards, at 300 yards the drop 6 1/4 inches and at 400 yards they drop 18 1/4 inches. choose either one of these any you got a winner. | | | |
