I just bought a used very little Remington model 742 semi auto in 243 cal. Does any body else out there shoot one of these? What can you tell me about this gun? I think it's a discontinued model.

The Remington 742 Woodsmaster is a great gun. It has been the recipient of a bad nickname though, the "jammaster" as I recall. I think those were cases of folks not keeping the actions clean and oiled. Never had a problem with mine.

A few stats for ya: Made from 1960 - 1980, over 1.4 million made, and only came in 5 calibers.

I had one in 30-06 for a while but never thought it was as accurate as a bolt action model 700 Rem so I switched to a bolt gun.
