On my bow I have my pins set at 25, 30, 35, and 40 yds with my bow shooting a 393 gr arrow 273 fps. My 25 yrd pin will work to about 27 or 28 yds. It will shoot a little high before 20yds but not too much. I will use my 30 for 28-33 and my 35 for 34-38. It all really depends on the speed of your bow. Try setting your 2nd pin at 30 and shoot it at 20 and 25 yds to see how high it shoots. You can shoot it at 35 too and see how low it is. If the point of impact(POI) is close anough to your point of aim(POA) for what you find acceptable than it will work for you. I try to keep my POI pretty close to my POA, maybe a slightly off either way.

I have 2 pins on my hunting bow. The first is sighted in at 20 yds and the other at 30 yds. Half of the space between the two pins will be 25 yds. You will have to adjust your pin placement on your target according to to your yardage. You need to shoot at a 10 yard target using your 20yd pin to see where it will hit.

You will half to aim low on your target if you are shooting from an elevated stand also.

Basically, if you have say, two pins, one at 20 yards and the other at 30, you'd simply split the difference for 25 yards: raising the 20 yard pin or lowering the 30 yard pin. The problem is not in the pin settings but, in knowing the distance you are shooting. This is a hard skill to aquire. If you can, get a couple of friends to go out into a filed and measure some distances. Get some white ribbon for shooting spots, and pink for target areas. Have them do it from 20 - 40 yards, with some 45's thrown in for good measure. They can write down their target ranges and simply move the target from spot to spot letting you try your shots, guessing at ranges. Off of cliffs, or down in valleys, up a hill or across a flat plain, these will help you to judge your shots. Heck, switch off and try and trick each other if you are all bow hunters. The differences in terrain and elevation will make a difference and improve your hunting and bow skills immesureably!! Good luck!

I went to the indoor range and shot a few rounds and finally decided to set my first pin at 15yds and the second at 20yds. Seems like it will take some trial and error before I will be dead on as far guessing what distance a deer is at unless I have a range finder. Ive been pretty good so far by taking 6 deer already this season but I never had my 20yd pin set and it was just throwing me off because I have always just used my first pin.

If I were you I would just go buy a rangefinder to determine distances. Once I am up me tree I shoot a few of the trees around me to find my 25 yd circle. After that I will hit a few more trees to find a few further distances.

if you can't afford a rangefinder you can "step off" different landmarks around your stand .then when deer pass each reference point you know exactly how far it is.

That's a great idea. I did that my first 2 seasons then I would use a little piece of ribbon to mark it. It was easy to draw a mental circle from the points over to where your deer is at so you don't over/under shoot.

I would guess that either you are using too light of arrow spline or too heavy of tip for your arrow or both.  No matter what it fishtails coming out of the bow unless you are shooting rebar arrows.  It will always give when the string pushes it that hard but the more it does the farther it takes to straighten out...  What lb draw are you shooting?  What size of arrow?  And broadhead weight?

Are you shooting with fingers or a release??? If you are shooting with your fingers, a release will probably fix that. On the side of the arrow if they are carbon there will be a 3 digit number 300, 350, 400 etc. It aluminum it will have a 4 digit number 4117 or something like that...
