| DO I HAVE A BOW STORY FOR YOU!! I HAVE BEEN A MATHEWS BOW MAN FOR MANY YEARS NOW. MOST RECENTLY I HAD A MATHEWS OUTBACK. STUPID ME I HAD AN OFFER AND SOLD IT IN EARLY 2007.I HEARD HYPE AFTER HYPE OF THE BOWS IN 2007. I SHOT ABOUT EVERY BOW THAT YOU COULD IMAGINE, AND REALLY COULDNT DECIDE. WELL I SETTLED FOR A FRED BEAR ELEMENT UNTIL I COULD CHOOSE FOR REAL. I WOULD HOPE THAT MAYBE THIS COULD MAKE IT THROUGH THE SEASON. WELL HONESTLY SHOT GOOD, BUT I COULD HAVE HEAVED AN ARROW FASTER AND HARDER THAN THIS SHOT.
BY THIS TIME I WAS TIED UP BETWEEN THE NEW PSE X-FORCE 7 INCH BRACE, AND THE MATHEWS DRENALIN. BEYOND MY BETTER JUDGEMENT I WENT WITH THE X-FORCE. MAN DID THIS BOW SMOKE, AND HIT LIKE A TON OF BRICKS. I WAS ALL SMILES, AND FORGOT ALL ABOUT HOW MATHEWS WAS ALWAYS THERE TRUE TO THE CORE TIME AND TIME AGAIN. I LET ABOUT 50 ARROWS GO FROM THE X-FORCE AND FELT CONFIDENT IN MY SHOT. ESPECIALLY SINCE ONE PIN ON MY SIGHTS WAS GOOD FROM 15-40 YARDS.
I WENT HUNTING ON SATURDAY AND DIDNT SEE ANYTHING MUCH BUT A FEW BIRDS. DECIDED TO COME DOWN AND GO TO THE HOUSE. I WAS SITTING IN MY CHAIR AND WANTED TO SHOOT A LITTLE. SHOT ONE SHOT PERFECT, SHOT SECOND SHOT WAY HIGH AND TO THE RIGHT, THE THIRD SHOT WAS WAY LOW TO THE LEFT. I GOT TO THINKING SOMETHING WAS UP. WELL I CALLED MY SPORTING GOODS SHOP I BOUGHT THE BOW FROM AND ASKED WHAT WAS WRONG. HE TOLD ME HE DIDNT KNOW. THEN HE STARTED TALKING ABOUT STRING STRETCH AND JUMPING TIME. WELL I WAS NEVER TOLD ABOUT NONE OF THIS WHEN I BOUGHT THE BOW. WELL I WENT BACK OUTSIDE AND PULLED THE BOW BACK. ABOUT 2 INCHES FROM FULL DRAW THE STRING BROKE AND WHIPPED THE PISS OUT OF MY BACK AND LEG. WELL I FLUNG THE BOW IN THE AIR AND CURSED A LITTLE. AFTER GETTING THE TEARS CLEARED FROM MY EYES, I LOADED UP AND TOOK THAT D*MN THING BACK. HE LOOKING AT ME AND TOLD ME TO LAY IT ON THE TABLE WITH THE REST. I TURNED AROUND AND THERE LAYED 3 OTHERS WITH NO STRINGS.
WELL TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT I TRADED THAT PEICE OF CRAP IN AND GOT A MATHEWS DRENALIN. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER BOW THAT DOESNT HAVE THE MATHEWS NAME.
THANKS FOR READING AND HOPE THIS HELPS ON OTHERS THAT MAY BE CAUGHT TRING TO CHOOSE!!! | | | |

| | while i am not a fan of PSE and thier warranty policys, a string is a string the materials are used by all bow manufactures. you must consider yourself lucky you didnt loose a eye or cut your arms. i have heard some real horror stroys about strings breaking. | | | |

| | I am a PSE fan and one thing that I have been told is that string that comes on them isnt the highest and best quality. If you want an extremely good string and are willing to spend the extra money an Winners Choice String and Cable set is the way to go. The cost more but they last longer and they dont stretch or twist like the other ones. Our local bow shop sells PSE, Browning, and AR and they almost insist on someone putting a Winners Choice on there because of the duribilty and life of the string. In fact the two men that own the store both shoot that PSE X-Force and you are right it does fling some arrows, they both have the Winners Choice String and have had no problems with them at all. One thing that they also told me is that because of the power of the bow that you have to be carefull what kind of arrows you get because if you dont get the right kind of arrow that the arrow actually bends to much and causes a fall in accuracy. | | | |

That is true of any bow. If you don't match the spine (stiffness) of your arrows correctly with the bow poundage, you can get serious bending in the arrow that will affect it's performance, or possibly even break the arrow. If the difference is too severe, the bow can't release all of its energy into the arrow so you end up with extra shock and vibration in the bow that can lead to damaging the limbs, etc. There was a video floating around a while back that had a very good slow motion demonstration of the effect. I'll post a link later on if I can find it again.

| | Matthews is a good company. I feel that they have legit concerns about the up and coming Bowtech brand. In your research did you shoot the Guardian? I recently read an unbiased review of new bows on Archerytalk.com. Both bows did relatively well (Bowtech and Matthews). If you get a chance, I'd recommend checking it out. | | | |

| I own a PSE too and I love it. I have only been using it for the last 3 deer seasons. And it is the only bow I have shot. But I have not had any problems with it.
All though from what some people did tell me before, I thought it was going to blow on my last year. Until I got this bow in August or September of 2005, the only bow I shot was when I was in the 5th or 6th grade in the late 70's. For PE in school. It was only a recurve bow. and so we shot it with finger draw. With the bow I know own I shot with a release. Well anyway last year when I was checking out the bow before going out to shot targets I decided to try a finger pull since I had not done it since 5th or 6th grade. So I pulled it back and held it for a few seconds and then I went to slowly move it back to the resting position it slipped from my fingers and I heard the loudest POP!!! I have ever heard. I was thinking to myself "Great I did it now, and I am going to pay for it in any time now when parts start hitting me... After what seemed like a few seconds, I opened my eyes and the bow was still in one piece, well except for the peep thing attached to the string with the rubber hose thing that lines it up right. That piece that the rubber hose attached to had broken off of the peep. I have always heard that dry firing a compound bow was very bad and a bow could blow apart on you if done. since it was still in one piece, I just ran the rubber hose thru a hole in the string where the peep was at and tied a big knot in the thing to see if it would still work that way. with my release this time I pulled it back and it did what it was suppose to do. So since it seemed to work and I had planned to go practice anyway I went and it shot just fine, I hit my mark just as I had always did all the other times before.
So with all that, my PSE bow is still in great shape. And except for when I first got it, I have not been to a bow pro for anything. Except for when they set it up when I first got it in the Mail.

| i shoot easton axis 400. i have nothing against the way the x-force shot. it was totally unreal. i have searched the internet and there are tons on people talking about cam tilt, strings breaking. they say the reason is that there are burrs on the cams. well for 700 dollars i dont want to worry about everytime i pull it back that i will have the hell beat out of me by a string. in MY OPINION i think they looked at the speed, and never really took anything else into consideration. | | | |

| | all of this with the string, all strings will stretch to some point i would almost bet that any bow made by any manufacturer will stretch, you have to take in to account how much power the bow has, common sense tells you that if the bow is putting out arrows harder that it is going to have more wear and tear on the string, any bow out there will stretch. | | | |

| | I have a PSE. I enjoy shooting it. I like it better than the cheap Browning and Fred Bear my friends shoot. I feel that the Mathews is probably has better bows. But for the price I got this laid back limb PSE I could not pass it up. PSE doesn't impress my with their customer service. They are friendly but won't sell to the public. That is a pain when it takes 6+ weeks for the local shop to get parts. | | | |
