| I have a 9 year old little restless brother who has finily (in my eyes) come of age to come on a bow hunt with me and my uncle. Hes been shooting a bow for a while now, and is much better then i was at his age. But Im not sure if hes up for sitting in one place for such a long time. And im worried that if he has a bad experience on his first time, it might leave a bad taste in his mouth for the rest of his life. So what im asking for is maybe some tips on how too keep the younger kids interested durring a Turkey Bow Hunt.
Thanks,

| Just wondering...
Did it take a couple of times going hunting with you for him to enjoy it?
Or did he just jump right into it the first time you guys went?

| | imo,i'd set aside a hunt for him, that way if he gets bored or restless you can call it a day when he's ready so he doesn't get burned out to quick.i'd also have him watch some videos on how to call and let him call.it'll help pass the time for him and imagine the excitement if he called one in.i just think the best thing to do when taking a kid hunting or fishing is to set aside thier own hunt | | | |

| | He has hunted with me off and since he was 2 or 3 years old.He killed his first dove when he was 9 and has killed ducks, geese,a bobcat and a his first deer last year.He is one of my best friends and I always enjoy his company.I have always tried to be patient and remember that he is a kid and still learning. | | Tubby The God of My Rock;He Is My Sheild; And The Horn Of My Salvation 2 Samuuel,Ch 22 | |

| When my son was on his first trip with me , whenever I noticed he was getting a little bored or figity, I would say "I hear something comming" and that would usually get him to focus for 15 min or so, but you can only do that so many times during a hunt. | | Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. | my dad would not take me on a hunt with bow or gun until I could prove that I could sit still, not talk, and most important see the deer before he could.... so for about 4 years I sat with him during rifle season on opening day, rain or shine.
it got to the point where I saw plenty before he did and at that point I was allowed to hunt myself....
I had taken hunter saftey and passed so that part was not an issue for either of us..... | | DRENALIN SIDEWINDER LX AXIS ST G5 STRIKER

| You are doing the right thing in trying to motivate a kid to hunt. They are the future of the sport.
If you take a kid fishing and nothing is biting. he won't have a good time. So make sure that you take him someplace that he will at least see deer and teach him what you can while you are there. Show him tracks and scrapes and rubs. Then explain to him as much as you can about them. If he learns something even if you don't shoot, it can still be an exciting day.
Thanks for taking a kid hunting!
