Didn't break any bones. On Oct 2006 I fell and cut all the tendons(but one)and a the ulnar nerve. That has been two years and I can't shoot my compound any more,so I know how you feel.......that was one of the first questions I asked my Dr.,I didn't get the reply I wanted.
Good Luck with your rehab, maybe you will be ready when season gets here.

First and foremost, I would talk to your doctor. If he/she says that its okay for you to start trying again, I'd go to the rehab department at the hospital or medical supply and get one of those long rubber strechy things they use to create light resistance and gently build the muscles in your shoulder up again. Tie it to a post or something in your garage or open area at shoulder height, and mimic the pull of your bow.

Remember, pain is an indicator of something wrong. So if it hurts, stop and or lighten up the workout. I wouldn't pull for more than about 5 to 8 times a day, every other day until your sure that the strength is coming back. Now one thing to remember, is that the fracture is going to be a weak spot. The gentle pulling action is also to get the body to build back in calcium to strengthen the bone to support the muscles, so take your time. If and/or when you graduate to your bow, lower the draw weight a lot. Then only do about five pulls, unless you feel pain, and do it every other day till your doing it easily and feel that moving the weight up is safe and you've not been feeling any pain.

Most importantly, be patient!! Rushing yourself can cause a set back that will add weeks or even months to your recovery. I sure hope you get back out there again. One last consideration, even if its the worst news from the doc, think about switching sides and shooting your bow with your other hand.

I sure hope this helps and you get better real soon!!

thanks for the support I know it may be awhile before I'm able to use my bow.

When i see my bow siting in the corner begging me to come out and play, i fell sad that I can't. Since the day i met it in the archery shop its talked to me, wanting me to practice often. I kept my bow next to my bed every night, the only thing i keep closer is my wife. i had to move it to the basement recently because it was hard to see. just a case reminding me of all i could miss.

we will play again.
