I was in the archery shop yesterday getting some new arrows cut when I saw one on the rack. With a few minutes to kill I checked it out. It felt good in my hand and pointed well. The weight wasn't bad either. I wasn't able to test fire it because only pulling 26 inches there are few bows I can try off the self.
The pros at the shop set me up with a Parker Buckhunter last year becuse it is a good beginers bow they said. It is a good bow and I have learned quite a bit with it. But now that I am hooked on bowhunting it may be time to get a more advanced bow.

Well I guess this makes it two questions. Have any of you tried the Buckmasters bow or known anyone who has? Is it to soon to get a different bow ,or should I shoot the Parker for a few more years?

I think that the bow that you have now is 10 times better than the Buckmaster bow... Some of the ones are OK but you can buy most of the models at Wal-Mart for about $200 I think. I think you would just be going from one really good beginners bow to another decent beginners bow. If you post a blog on here saying what you are looking for and in what price range you are willing to pay you will get lots of good advice. There are some really good teachers on here.

Oh yeah... I would probably stick with the Parker at least until you feel that the bow is holding back your accuracy. I shot my first bow several seasons and got better and better. It seemed that I plateaued and never could get any more consistent so I upgraded and it made a significant difference. But unless you have got the mechanics down pat and your form in shape it won't make you any better having a new normally faster bow. You would think that a faster bow would be more forgiving because the arrow is off the string faster but it's not as long as you are starting with a decent bow. Think of it like jerking the steering wheel at 20 mph and jerking the steering wheel at 80 mph... The 80mph jerk gets hairy a lot faster! So unless you feel that your bow is holding you back you are better off saving the dough until you feel you are ready...

Thanks for the advice . I will stick with the Parker.
I think you are thinking of an older bow. The one I saw is built by Mission a part of Mathews.

Yeah after I wrote that I went to bed and saw the new Buckmasters magazine and they did and article on it. I think that the old one was made by Bear??? It looked better than I thought but I would still probably stick it out another season unless you shoot everyday. Good Luck!
