   I am just wondering the effects of strong winds on the flight of y arrow. Although I have been bowhunting for about 15 years I have never attempted shooting in strong winds yes I know stupid on my part but never had the chance to be able to get to a place where I could shoot live in the city and don't have a big enough yard to practice in safely. First snow of the season here in north eastern mass. But weather calls for strong winds this afternoon but still want to try my luck haven't been able to pin point were the deer are hanging in the local state forest. With the snow I should be able to come across their tracks and find where they are eating and bedding. been a bad year so far and am hoping with the snow I can score

Too many variables for anyone to tell you much more than you already know...speed of the arrow is significant, as is mass, and how much surface area your vanes take up. Then you factor wind speed and direction. It could be a few inches at 20 yards up to a foot...when you start considering everything.

I shoot FOB (fletching only better) they have lower cross section area, so they don't allow so much wind push.

You could always load up a dull broad head and give yourself a few practice leaves from the stand...

You won't be able to tell really unless you shot it like he said. My new bow shoots really fast and 20mph winds don't really make a difference at all until I get out about 25 yards and it starts to drift an inch or two. But my old Martin Lynx really lobbed the arrows in and it would move 4" or so at 20yds. Even with my new bow I still just draw my bow back in the stand and aim and wait til the wind isn't hitting my face very hard to shoot. If you don't get the chance to do shoot it at least do that and you should be OK.
