I actually never even saw a deer the first year I bowhunted, I thought I had a this "great" spot...now after doing a couple of years I know a bit more.....I guess what helped me was I had parent and  friends whom kept me motivated to go back out because they too like to hunt.

without them, I never would have even started hunting.

wasn't poking fun with my other post.

hope you stick with it and stay just as motivated as ever.

The first one is definetly the hardest one to get. It will happen for you. Sometimes its hard to get back out there after you have not had success but remember you cant kill them setting on the couch and there are no bad days when your hunting. After you get your first one you will be hooked for life.

Hey Bro hang in there, I have been bow hunting for the past 4 yrs and have not tied a tag to anything except my rearview mirror. I too have thought about giving up and sellling my stuff, but I just start thinking about how great venison taste, the excitment of my son when he gets to go with me. I have more reasons to keep on hunting and trying to tag the infamous brute, than anything else.

If you have a youngster or know a youngster that is interested in hunting .... take them and I am possitive your fire to keep on hunting will get stronger. I know the first time I took my son, my passion turned into fiery obsession ... and is still growing stronger every year. I wish you the best of luck my friend.

Don't give up ... your deer will show up !!!

My first year of bowhunting was my first year of any deer hunting bc NY doesn't allow gun until 16 but bow at 14. I was lucky enough to get a deer my first year, a spike. Then for 4 years straight I ended up with nothing. I started to wonder why I was still going out everyday to either see nothing or see something but never get a shot. Then last year came and within one minute in my stand i shot a really nice 8 pointer. It was all worth it when I found him lying there dead. Then just 2 days ago I got a nice 4 pointer which is also better than any of my gun kills bc it was with the bow. I prefer to hunt with the bow now even if it means I might not get a deer every year. Just stick with it and it will all come together someday. I'd hunt ten more years without getting a deer as long as I'm still in the woods when the sun comes up or when it goes down. Seeing some of things you can see in the woods are sometimes much better than getting a deer itself. Good Luck in the future!

I go just to get away from my wife.  Its way more fun to sit in the woods all day and see nothing than to hear her whine and moan about everything.  Kevin

Hey countrydriven,
Don't give up! I have been bow hunting for (4)four yrs and still have all of my tags and no venison in the freezer. If PETA can't stop us from hunting than neither should a not so good season. The last time I saw my venison still on hoof it was a doe,and the DNR didn't take the time to inform the ones hunting public land that our tags could be used for both buck or doe,so I ended up less than 20 yrds from (2)two very plump does, and completely oblivious to the fact that I was able to harvest one.
Please don't get discouraged, just hang in there.

If this post from you has already had a great outcome awsome, if not ... stick to it your luck will change!
